EUI will finance projects to offer tangible, real-life examples under three main topics: “Greening cities”, “Sustainable tourism” and “Harnessing talent in shrinking cities”. Of the 112 applications received from 21 EU Member States, 22 projects have not only been selected for their innovativeness but also for their transfer potential to other EU cities and their capacity in establishing solid local partnerships.

More specifically, this project, FOOTPRINTS, has the municipality of Ravenna as a coordinating partner, seeking to promote the balance of tourist flow with sustainable urban development. This is pursued through a strong and transferable system of cooperation between the partners. The transfer cities (such as Ravenna) play an important role in the validation process of the system, and will be part of the innovation process by monitoring progress and providing continuous feedback from their own local and regional perspective.

The participants assigned to this Project are RAVENNA INCOMING CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU (Italy), EUTROPIAN ASSOCIATION (Italy), AZIMUT S.P.A. (Italy), VISTA TECHNOLOGIES (Italy), ART-ER – Joint Stock Consortium Company (Italy), SAN VITALE Social Cooperative Enterprise (Italy), ATLANTIDE Social Cooperative Enterprise (Italy), Municipality of Veszprém (Hungary), Municipality of Dubrovnik (Croatia) and Municipality of Altea (Spain).

FOOTPRINTS´ main goals are to turn a tourist visit into a “temporary citizen” experience, based on the possibility to measure the individual footprint of the visit, as well as to implement systems for responsible choices. Also develop new experiences with social and environmental relevance in collaboration with local socio-cultural associations, compile them in a catalogue and promote them in a gaming context. And implement an interactive digital platform and a gaming system to evaluate the footprint and obtain benefits.
