MUNICIPALITY OF ALTEA HAS BEEN SELECTED TO COLLABORATE IN THE INTERREG MED “LOCAL4GREEN” PROJECT
The Municipality of Altea is one of the municipal entities selected to participate as collaborators in the Local4green Project “Local policies for green energy” belonging to the European Interreg Med Programme.
The project, which is led by the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FVMP), began in November 2016 and ended in 2019 after two and a half years. The objective of Local4green is to support local authorities in the definition and implementation of fiscal policies aimed at promoting renewable energy sources, both in the public and private sector and within the framework of the Sustainable Energy Action Plans signed in the Covenant of Mayors.
In addition to the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, as coordinator of the project and the collaboration of the MUSOL Foundation, as a partner, the rest of the Local4green consortium is made up of different entities from 9 European countries. Thus, the project involves associations of municipalities, regional energy agencies, foundations and universities from Malta, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Slovenia, Cyprus, Portugal and Albania, as well as Spain.
The Municipality of Altea participates in the “Testing” phase of the project, which includes various tasks of design, implementation and evaluation of policies.
With the participation in the Local4green Project, the Municipality of Altea continues with its strategy of promoting European funding projects through its European Project Office.
