SEVEN DARING CITIES BUILDING AN INNOVATIVE TRANSFER NETWORK

The first of September 2024 the DARING cities project has started. Seven are the DARING cities financed by the URBACT IV programme – Innovative Transfer Network, which has the objective to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and the transfer of good and innovative practices between cities and other levels of government, to promote integrated sustainable urban development.

The network is composed by Ravenna (IT), Den Helder (NL), Olomouc (CZ), Dunaújváros (HU), Piraeus (EL) and Kragujevac (RS), networking to unlock the potentials of transitional neighbourhood and city.

It will design and implement a novel combination of data, digital tools, people involvement and stakeholders collaboration, storytelling and facilitation skills to improve, together, the citizen quality of life, starting from an original policy challenge addressed by the UIA-DARE project lead by the municipality of Ravenna. Focusing on the Darsena district, a decaying post-industrial area of Ravenna, the DARE project created a digital environment through a participatory process and digital platform where data were made accessible, understandable and useful. DARE proposed an urban regeneration process based on new alliances between public, private profit and non-profit sectors and residents.
The DARING projects has started, and will work until the end of August 2026, travelling through three stages: understand, adapt, preparing for re-use. The partnership met in Ravenna last November to deep dive into the DARE project, to bond to a committed and enthusiast group, working to improve the Quality of Life of citizens.
