    PROJECT SUMMARY

The situation of continuous cyber-attacks on the information systems of public administrations or organisations in general is well known.

With this project, Altea Town Council intends to improve the security of the infrastructures in the area of the Data Processing Centre and backup copies, improving its response capabilities to cybersecurity incidents of the Ransomware type, among others.

The aim is also to provide the Local Administration with the technological infrastructures necessary for the modernisation of the workstation, adapting workstations to updated operating systems.

This updating of operating systems helps to improve the efficiency of the workstation, as well as to improve its IT security.

Action 1 – Acquisition of new IT equipment for the updating of workstations.

Action focused on the improvement of workstations.

The acquisition of IT equipment, 14 PCs, has been carried out, intended to modernise some workstations of the organisation, adapting the workstations to updated operating systems, with the aim of improving the performance and the security posture of the workstations.

Action 2 – Updating of secure backup storage systems to improve Cybersecurity.

Action focused on the improvement of the Data Processing Centre.

The acquisition has been carried out of a storage array intended to modernise and expand the infrastructure of the organisation’s Data Processing Centre (DPC), with the aim of strengthening corporate storage capacity and increasing the availability and security of data (backup copies), improving its response capabilities to cybersecurity incidents of the Ransomware type, among others.

    Main objectives achieved

    • To improve workstations with updated operating systems, with the consequent improvement in IT security.
    • To optimise public employees’ workstations by means of energy-efficient equipment, thus reducing electricity consumption.
    • To update the infrastructure of the Data Processing Centre towards an environment with secure storage systems for backup copies.
    • To reduce the consequences of Ransomware type cyber-attacks as a result of this updating.
