    Living History:  AI-Powered Cultural Heritage

InCo Molfetta (Italy), E-School (Greece), Municipality of Altea (Spain)

    Budget

    60.000€

    Project duration

    From 1 September 2025 to 28 February 2027
The Living History project, coordinated by Associazione InCo Molfetta, in collaboration with organisations from Greece (E-School) and Spain (Municipality of Altea – EuroAltea), is an innovative initiative aimed at promoting local cultural heritage through the use of advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies. The project offers adults, especially vulnerable groups such as older people and residents of rural areas, the opportunity to learn how to use AI and AR to enhance the value of the stories, characters and significant places of their communities, thus fostering cultural preservation and active participation in social life.

Living History seeks to develop and implement a training methodology designed to teach adults how to create intelligent algorithms capable of bringing digitised historical figures to life, with whom interaction will be possible via smartphone, transforming the experience of cultural heritage into an engaging, interactive and accessible one. The project includes training courses, historical research workshops, the creation of a digital platform featuring chatbots and avatars, as well as the installation of interactive access points with QR codes in the cities of Molfetta (Italy) and Altea (Spain).

Key objectives include cultural modernisation and accessibility, the improvement of adults’ digital skills, the fight against depopulation and urban degradation, as well as the creation of a model replicable in other European contexts. The project actively involves the IES Bellaguarda, valuing the knowledge of young people and adults alike and using technology as a tool for learning and social cohesion.

Living History is aligned with the priorities of the Erasmus programme, focusing on social inclusion, digital transformation and the enhancement of adult educators’ competences, with a significant expected impact in terms of non-formal education, technological innovation, cultural dissemination and civic participation.
