Monday, February 11, we celebrated our first meeting with local associations and citizens in relation to the European Project Urbact III – Volunteering Cities.
During this meeting, we talked about the Buena Práctica de Athienou of Athienou Municipality in Cyprus and how we can transfer this potential to Altea, in order to empower both associations and citizens.
“The Municipal Council of Volunteering of Athienou (CMV) covers the basic needs of people facing poverty and social isolation. Volunteering is the tool used to connect people and services, with up to 200 volunteers at a time.
Evolving since 1970, there are currently four programs: elder care, community assistance and entertainment, child care and social assistance. These activities interconnect different generations and provide direct and concrete help to those who need it most. ”
