Young scholars from Altea´s IES Bellaguarda that participated in the ¨Stop Diabetes¨ youth exchange in the city of Plovdiv from Bulgaria, from the 20th till 30th of July of 2019.
The project led by the “Bulgarian Youth Association” deals with the alarming increase of diabetes cases in Europe, hence, Spain, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey worked together to seek a solution against this disease. Ekaterina, Alejandra, Larisa, Paula, Marta, Amelia, Clara, Alberto, David and Leyre, youngsters from Altea, spent ten days in the Bulgarian city Plovdiv and developed an educational plan in order to inform the youngsters about this metabolic dissorder; they developed physical activities, presentations, debates, seminars, workshops and special diets with the purpose of preventing the risks and be aware of the causes and effects of the disease in question.
This exchange aims to raise awareness among young people about diabetes, which is increasingly present in developed countries. This group of young people travels accompanied by two adult group leaders to facilitate their experience of the project.
